Idag var jag på Stockholms stadsbibliotek och lånade den tyske filosofen Hegels bok Andens fenomenologi. I denna bok presenterar Hegel sin tanke om herre och slav. Detta koncept har givit namn åt min roman. Andens fenomenologi är inte direkt någon enkel läsning, men det är spännande att läsa originaltexten.
På engelska Wikipedia har jag hitta en enklare sammanfattning. Där har jag främst fastnat för hur slaven till slut kan bryta sitt band till herren genom att använda sin kreativitet för att upptäcka att han själv har kontroll över sin värld. Så här står det på Wikipedia:
As the slave creates more and more products with greater and greater sophistication through his own creativity, he begins to see himself reflected in the products he created, he realises that the world around him was created by his own hands, thus the slave is no longer alienated from his own labour and achieves self-consciousness, while the master on the other hand has become wholly dependent on the products created by his slave; thus the master is enslaved by the labour of his slave. The realisation of this contradiction allows the slave to once again struggle against his master. The contradiction is resolved when the difference between slave and the master is dissolved and both persons recognise that they are equal.
Detta är någonting som jag kommer införliva i de sista kapitlen av boken när det gäller karaktären Lukas. Nu börjar de sista pusselbitarna falla på plats…
